With its original decision initially scheduled for September 2023, the UK government has delayed for the fourth time a decision on the Sunnica project's application. Development consent is now postponed until 20 June 2024.
Sunnica is a 500MW hybrid solar power and energy storage project to be installed in Sunnica East and West on the border between Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
The construction would also include three 132kV substation and a 16km transmission line that will connect the facility to the Burwell National Grid substation.
Since its generation output exceeds 50MW, Sunnica is considered a nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP).
